Text Formatting and Plain Text Documents

"Plain text" documents are incapable of recording font and paragraph formatting information such as bold, italic, underline, centered text alignment, custom tab stops, bulleted paragraphs, etc. This is unlike "rich text" documents which record font and paragraph formatting information as part of the document.

Jarte's status bar indicates whether the currently open document is "plain text" (e.g., a TXT file) or "rich text" (e.g., RTF or DOC files). If the current document is a plain text document the status bar will display a icon. If the current document is a rich text document the status bar will display a icon. If you wish to change the document from plain text to rich text simply click the icon and select "Rich Format".
