Unsupported Features

This section lists some of the features Jarte does not currently support, but are often asked about. These features are not supported by the WordPad word processing engine Jarte is based on so they are difficult to support in Jarte.

Columns

A workaround for the use of columns is to create a table with a single tall row and the desired number of columns. The table borders can be hidden by coloring them white. This workaround is not the same as true columns and is best suited for one page documents.

Footnotes

The ability to insert footnotes is planned for a future version of Jarte. The workaround is to manually create an endnotes page at the end of the document. Insert a page break at the beginning of the endnotes page to ensure it always starts at the beginning of a new page. Use the font superscript feature to create raised endnote numbers in the document when referencing endnotes.

Password Encryption

The ability to password protect documents using encryption is planned for a future version of Jarte.

Borders

Page and paragraph borders are not currently supported. However, borders can be emulated by placing text inside of a 1x1 table.

Languages

The Jarte program is only provided with an English interface, although non-English spelling dictionaries are provided. It is a goal to provide Jarte in languages other than English, but this not expected to happen in the near future.

Macros

Macros will never be supported in Jarte since they are beyond the program's scope of purpose as well as posing an unacceptable security risk.
